His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent cables of congratulations on Saturday to officers in the Kuwaiti army, Lieutenant Colonel Fahad Al-Yaqoub, Lieutenant Col Salem Al-Mell and Major Nasser Fawaz Al-Sabah.
In his cables, His Highness congratulated the officers on their achievement to register a new record in the Guinness Book after jumping with the flag of Kuwait as the largest flag during the free fall in the sport of skydiving in the world.
His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah also sent similar cables to the officers.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad AlSabah also congratulated the three Kuwait army officers for their feat. The Ministry of Defense said in a statement that Sheikh Nasser expressed pride in the officers’ global accomplishment, raising the national flag high, urging them to persevere for serving Kuwait.
Representatives from Guinness World Records will honor the trio during a special ceremony in Kuwait next Sunday, said Army Major Nasser Fawaz Al-Sabah; one of the team’s members, in a statement to KUNA. The other two are Staff Lieutenant Colonel Fahad AlYaqoub and Lt-Col Salem Al-Mell.
The record-breaking jump took place in Skydive Qatar; the world-class skydiving facility that integrates advanced training programs with the enjoyment of skydiving.
On what drove the team to pursue such endeavor, Major Al-Sabah said it was to prove that Kuwaiti youth are always up to the challenge. He further pointed out that it was a personal project that took two years in the making, while the special material for the flag was manufactured in Spain.
He dedicated the achievement to the Kuwaiti leadership and people. (KUNA)

Only seven weeks after his trip, Trump ran full-page ads in the Boston Globe, the NYT and WaPO calling for, in effect, the dismantling of the postwar Western foreign policy alliance. The whole Trump/Russian connection started out as laundering money for the Russian mob through Trump's real estate, but evolved into something far bigger. ► In 1984, David Bogatin — a Russian mobster, convicted gasoline bootlegger, and close ally of Semion Mogilevich, a major Russian mob boss — met with Trump in Trump Tower right after it opened. Bogatin bought five condos from Trump at that meeting. Those condos were...
