Switzerland rejects UEFA demand for law against rogue advertising - Sports - International Herald Tribune: "ZURICH, Switzerland: The Swiss government has rejected calls from UEFA to tighten laws against so-called "ambush marketing" by companies who aren't official sponsors of the 2008 European Championship.

Swiss daily Tages-Anzeiger reported that Switzerland will stick with its existing laws banning misleading advertising during the tournament, which the Alpine country is co-hosting with Austria, and not establish an outright ban on unlicensed advertising that refers to soccer or the 16-team competition.

UEFA, according to the paper, had been lobbying the government to tighten controls on how companies can use the championship for marketing purposes.

"We take note of this decision, but that's all, as far as we are concerned," UEFA spokesman Wolfgang Eichler told The Associated Press."
