Everything%20You%u2019ve%20Heard%20About%20Section%20230%20Is%20Wrong%20%7C%20WIRED: Government%20intervention%20can%20and%20does%20go%20wrong%2C%20of%20course.%20Big%20corporations%20do%20indeed%20try%20to%20hijack%20the%20legislative%20process%20and%20capture%20regulators.%20In%20March%2C%20for%20example%2C%20Mark%20Zuckerberg%20publicly%20declared%20his%20support%20for%20reforming%20Section%20230%u2014with%20a%20set%20of%20proposed%20changes%20that%2C%20while%20vague%2C%20seem%20designed%20to%20allow%20Facebook%20to%20leave%20its%20existing%20policies%20more%20or%20less%20untouched.%0A%0ASo%20no%2C%20it%u2019s%20not%20surprising%20that%20an%20%24800%20billion%20company%20facing%20potential%20new%20regulations%20would%20try%20to%20turn%20them%20to%20its%20advantage.%20But%20to%20acknowledge%20that%20fact%20is%20not%20to%20make%20an%20argument%20for%20inaction.%20If%20anything%2C%20it%20suggests%20that%20the%20danger%20lies%20in%20doing%20too%20little%2C%20not%20too%20much.%20Because%20for%20all%20the%20hypothetical%20little%20guys%20who%20might%20get%20harmed%20according%20to%20some%20economic%20theory%2C%20there%20are%20plenty%20of%20real%2C%20known%20%ADlittle%20guys%20who%20are%20being%20abused%20by%20the%20status%20quo.%20That%20includes%20not%20just%20individuals%20like%20Kenneth%20Zeran%20and%20Ellen%20Batzel%20but%20whole%20segments%20of%20society.%20Discrimination%20in%20housing%20and%20job%20ads%20denies%20opportunities%20to%20Black%20people.%20Cyberstalking%20and%20harassment%20disproportionately%20drive%20women%20and%20members%20of%20other%20vulnerable%20groups%20off%20of%20social%20media.%20This%20is%20why%20supporters%20of%20the%20Safe%20Tech%20Act%20include%20organizations%20like%20the%20NAACP%20Legal%20Defense%20and%20Educational%20Fund%2C%20Muslim%20Advocates%2C%20Color%20of%20Change%2C%20and%20the%20National%20Hispanic%20Media%20Coalition.%0A%0A
