BBC News - United Passions: How Fifa spent 16m on a film where Sepp Blatter is a hero

BBC News - United Passions: How Fifa spent 16m on a film where Sepp Blatter is a hero A £19m film version of Fifa's history, in which president Sepp Blatter is one of the heroes, is opening in Serbia but no plans have been announced for worldwide release. What is going on? Sepp Blatter is happy to have been played by Tim Roth. "In this case the casting was well done," the president of Fifa said  when he met the actor at a lakeside hotel . "We have some common, let's say, qualities." Roth, star of Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, portrays the Swiss administrator in United Passions. The film tells how Fifa, world football's governing body, grew from its creation by a dedicated bunch of "mavericks" in Paris in 1904 to become overseer of today's multi-billion-pound industry. Gerard Depardieu plays long-serving president Jules Rimet, credited with creating the World Cup in 1930. Sam Neill is Blatter's immediate predecessor, Brazilian Joao

The new FIFA movie "United Passions" looks amazingly bad! [Trailer] : For those of you who think FIFA are clueless when it comes to running football – the video above may well confirm that theory. The world’s governing body for the game we all love have decided in their infinite wisdom to release a biopic of how FIFA came into existence and has been run ever since, in time for the 2014 World Cup. Reports suggest FIFA spent a whopping 16 million pounds on this movie, with the total spend coming in at 19 million. United Passions features Grard Depardieu, Sam Neill and Tim Roth and showcases the history of the World Cup. Love a good trailer and have an urge to see this movie but it looks TERRIBLE!

Jill Lepore: What the Theory of “Disruptive Innovation” Gets Wrong : The New Yorker

Jill Lepore: What the Theory of “Disruptive Innovation” Gets Wrong : The New Yorker : Christensen’s sources are often dubious and his logic questionable. His single citation for his investigation of the “disruptive transition from mechanical to electronic motor controls,” in which he identifies the Allen-Bradley Company as triumphing over four rivals, is a book called “The Bradley Legacy,” an account published by a foundation established by the company’s founders. This is akin to calling an actor the greatest talent in a generation after interviewing his publicist. “Use theory to help guide data collection,” Christensen advises.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo_cgFmNDRI Published on Apr 27, 2014 Based on true events, an army of topless women, armed with First Amendment lawyers, graffiti installations and national publicity stunts, invade New York City to protest the backwards censorship laws in the USA. Free The Nipple explores the hypocritical contradictions in our media-dominated society wherein acts of baroque violence, killing, brutalization and death are infinitely more tolerated by the FCC and the MPAA, then a woman's body. What is more obscene: Violence or a Nipple?

The free the nipple movement hit the headlines last week after Bruce Willis' daughter Scout went shopping for groceries on Manhattan's Lower East while bare chested. After she tweeted a picture using the hashtag #freethenipple the movement's founder Lina Esco decided to stage a protest in the big apple. The group is hoping to promote their feature film of the same name that they hope will be released next year. Around 20 men and women took to the city's Washington Square Park on Sunday to go topless and try to recruit more members. While there they were confronted by the NYPD and angry onlookers who were unhappy with them being topless in public.  Videographer / Director: Laurentiu Garofeanu Producer: Dan Howlett Editor: Ian Phillips /
