Apple Mac for the rest of us: Compatibility with Microsoft Office

Compatibility with Microsoft Office

First question from a PC users is "Can I read, write and edit Microsoft Office documents like excel, powerpoint, Word etc.
To answer to this question simply - Yes you can, and with few alternatives.
  1. Easy solution - There is a Microsoft Office Version for Mac (). It includes Entourage (Outlook), Word, Powerpoint and Excel and works just like (or better ;-) than the Win version including full connectivity to Win based corporate networks.
  2. Mac can read office documents through iWork - Apple suite of applications with Keynote - presentation software far superior and simpler to use than Powerpoint, Pages (word processing and layout) and Numbers, latest addition set to replace Excel. All of the apps provide cross compatibility in reading and writing PC versions of the MS Office standards.
  3. Parallels Virtual PC will enable your Mac to have both. A full functioning Windows PC right inside your mac. Switching files between the two is matter of drag'n'drop.
